Description
Sorbus americana
A medium sized tree, with flowers that bloom in May and early June. Beautiful red fruits appear in September that last into the winter. Leaves turn yellow, orange and reddish-purple in the fall.
Mountain ash is often planted in windbreaks and as a wildlife food source. They are preferentially browsed by moose and white-tailed deer and are an important source of food for small birds, mammals and pollinators.
